Motörhead frontman Lemmy is surrounded by a staunch pack of protectors. When the publicist for the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival -- a handle so long you practically need an energy drink to get through it -- offered a phone interview with him, we were psyched.
But we were quickly deflated upon learning that Lemmy was in Europe and thus only available for email interviews -- limited to six questions, with answers transcribed by his assistant. In the end, we decided that a li'l bit o' Lemmy was better than no Lemmy at all, although our sixth question -- "If you could tell Hitler anything pre-World War II, what would it be?" -- got censored by his management. Fascist!
In any case, here you go. It's short but sweet, and if you can't get through it in 30 seconds, we'll give you back the money you paid for this article. (Hardy har.)
We've heard you're a skilled prankster. What's the best prank you've ever pulled on another band you were touring with?
When we were out with Manowar, [late Motörhead guitarist] Würzel and I dressed up as the pope and walked up onstage and blessed them. [Manowar guitarist] Ross the Boss fell to his knees cracking up.
What's the story behind the Motörhead lines of wine and vodka? Whose idea was that, and which ones should we try?
Depends on what you drink. We have beer and whiskey coming out as well.
The Lemmy documentary revealed a lot about your life, past and present. What is one thing about you that even your most dedicated fans would be surprised to learn?
That I had a hysterectomy when I was 12 and that I am really a 6-foot woman!
