Earlier this week EDM DJ and producer Kaskade posted a photo on Facebook from the Miami stop of his recent tour. In it, a pretty blonde pays homage to the show -- called Freaks of Nature -- showing off a detailed body paint job. It's provacative, yes, but not much different than those Sports Illustrated swimsuit body paint pictures you can find at any drug store. (Full photo below.)

"This girl just 1 up'd EVERYONE!!!" Kaskade wrote in the caption. It drew some 13,000 likes. Quickly, however, he had some bad news: Facebook removed the photo.

Earlier this year, Gawker published a leaked document detailing Facebook's photo censoring policies. On this banned list were breastfeeding pictures "showing other nudity, or nipple clearly exposed," as well as photos of "naked private parts," "female nipple bulges and naked butt cracks."

In the past, Facebook has deleted a photo of a chaste gay kiss, a nude drawing and photos of women breastfeeding, sending gay rights activists, various segments of the art world and "lactivists" into tizzies. Facebook is much more strict on sex than violence, it should be noted. Reads the policy: "Crushed heads, limbs etc are OK as long as no insides are showing."

Turns out "art nudity" -- excluding digital or cartoon nudity -- gets a pass; the deleted drawing had "fooled" the moderators, a company representative said to The New York Times.

Though Kaskade's girl's butterfly pacifier is a nice touch, her photo could probably not be considered art. (No disrespect to her airbrusher.) Still, no nipples are visible. So what's the dealio?

FB? I bet he still wish he had that MTV offer on the table. Now he is broke. You can't take social networking public. I still make a shit load of money using spam like everyone else for my used car site www.buyherepayherelocations.com

I don't know. The butterfly pacifier might hold a clue as it is too reminiscent of Silence of the Lambs, it-puts-the-paint-on-its-skin-or-it-gets-it-with-the-hose.  Maybe Facebook's censor is Buffalo Bill. In light of the Denver Tragedy, they might want to erase certain grim images from the public's minds, right now.

Thank you Michelle Ross and Barrett Archer for your statements.  This really hit home for me because I am a die hard Kaskade fan and the creator and producer of Chroma Coalition - LA's Premier Body Painting Event for Artists by Artists.  I am literally disgusted at the disregard and lack of respect for body painting. If using a bunch of spray cans set the tone for the amazement of street art.......I am blown away that people don't realize the amount of talent it takes to produce fine body painting.  This is the whole reason I created Chroma Coalition.  I am flying out the world's best body painters from as far as New Zealand to prove that body painting is indeed a FINE ART.  I cannot wait to finally detach all the negative connotations associated with body painting August 25th.

PLEASE HELP US SETTLE THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL!

i don't even know where to begin on this article. you always see the occasional nip slip and derrière of celebrities on every website, but this picture is removed from facebook?! what are moderators exactly scared of? this piece of art, yes i said ART, being exposed to the eyes of their littles ones? then begin deleting every picture of teen drinking and marijuana smoking as well.

festivals and shows are all about uniting and expressing oneself whether it be through the music, how far you travelled for the show, and what you are wearing. personally, i enjoy going to shows to kick back with my friends, watch my favorite DJs perform, and to see what everyone is wearing.

you can find some of the most creative outfits at these events. i hand make all of my bras and even throw in a tutu, fishnet stockings, and a pair of fluffies. It's ridiculous how MARIJUANA can be posted on facebook but not something as beautiful as this airbrushed replica of kaskade's "freaks of nature" logo. not only does she have the body for it, but it IS in fact an art. let her rock it.

Just another reason why Facebook is going down in the dumps and Twitter and Instagram are taking over. And to assume all ravers are on drugs? Please, I ask you facebook moderators don't be so ignorant.

lastly, i have never been airbrushed before, but loved the idea years before this picture went viral. i even thought about it when i was in attendance to this past year's Ultra Music Festival, but did not know of a good airbrush artist, so thank you kaskade & facebook, i've already contacted her airbrush artist and he will be painting me when i go back to Miami in March 2013 for next year's Miami Music Week. my electrical tape and pasties will be a second option.

Clearly, a measure of creativity went into her body paint, clothes, effects, and the arrangement of her ensemble. Even if you don't like the result or think it's not creative enough, it's still self-expressive, still creative, and still art. Facebook was wrong to censor the photo.

We had the exact same issue with a body pant pic posted at Beatallica. Terms of Service violation ding on every page admin and at first, we didn't even know what photo was in question as you just get a violation notice with no details.
