Randy Blythe, Ahead of His Manslaughter Trial, Talks About Losing a Child Himself

Categories: Metal

But, due to the fact that she was slightly premature, she was too small for them to go ahead and operate on. So, she was alive for a while, and then they were like, "This isn't working out." So, I said, "Well, let her go."

It's something I really can't describe in words and nobody could understand unless they had to live through this. I know that this family [in Prague] is just going through the worst possible hell, and they have questions. So, despite the fact that I maintain my innocence, I feel ethically and morally obliged to do my best to provide them with some answers, if it goes to trial, to help them go down this road, where their pain can lessen a little bit.

It almost sounds like you're trusting that you're not going to be convicted.

I think we have a good case. I think it'll be hard for them to convict me on the charge that they have leveled against me because it's ludicrous. From what I understand, it's a crime of intent, and I certainly never intended to hurt anyone at any point in time during that show. But, life shows up and happens. Right? It shows up and happens. And if it shows up, and they give me ten years, I will have to deal with it as such.

It's frightening for me to think about. The fact of the matter that I don't want to go to prison for ten years in a foreign country or in America or in any country has nothing to do with the fact that I need to do the right thing. That's the whole thing, you know? I have to do the right thing. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to face myself.

Randy, You are incredibly brave for wanting to go back to that country to deal with that. I'm not privy to the actual details to what happened, but I'd much rather you just contact the family. They are gonna get more answers, more closure.. If you were to just contact them, instead of going to court, which is a horse shit business as it is. Randy,  we CANT lose you. Pantera carried the 90's.. If you are gone, we are leaderless, and Metal does NOT need that right now. Call them, If you can work out something with them outta court, do that. You being in prison is not just going to affect you, its not just going to affect your family. It's gonna effect all those up and coming metal bands, that will never get their exposure, without having you there so they can open the show. And it will be horrible for metal fans in general. I like most genres of metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, Hardcore to 80's metal. In the 90s, Pantera was the kings of metal, today.. YOU are. It is VERY difficult, to be a Metal fan. We can't find our stuff on the radio to listen to, we have to seek out new music to get into, and I often spends hours and hours, just to find a few new songs I like to put on a cd. If you go away, It will make it that much harder. Call the boys mom. Never go to that country again. Hell Randy, look at how they bullshitted you in court. Best case you can hope for, is your found not guilty, and that court takes every dime your worth. If your found guilty, they are STILL gonna end up with every dime your worth. STAY HOME, call the boys mom. I'm aware of the fact you didn't ask for it, but you are the King of our lifestyle, and metalfans all know, our music is our lifestyle. You can't risk yourself, your family, metal, and every last single one of us, in hopes of an honest court. (OxyMoron NOT OxyContin)
