Glenn Danzig is a hard man to get face time with, so we were extremely psyched to meet up with him at his management company's Wilshire Blvd. office. The veteran metalhead cut an imposing figure: compact and muscular frame, long dark hair, sunglasses, leather jacket and intense demeanor. Adding to the scene was a creepy life-sized Clown from Slipknot doll staring at us from the corner of the room. You can see it below.

To our surprise, he turned out to be polite and forthcoming, talking about his Danzig Legacy Tour, on which he and his band will be performing songs from the Misfits, Samhain and Danzig, in similar fashion to his Halloween show at Gibson. (It hits SoCal tomorrow night, May 26 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.) It was a thrill talking to him, and topics discussed included his feelings about the current Misfits, folks he talks to (Rick Rubin), folks he doesn't (Jerry Only), his fighting background, how he would have played Wolverine in X-Men and how our story about a guy who stalked him was wrong.

Better than...God damn sons of a bitch.

"It's fucking Halloween, do you know where your skull is?" Glenn Danzig inquired of the chock-full Gibson Amphitheater crowd last night. Personally, my skull was about to explode from sensory overload, what with the thousands of devotees in white face make-up, ketchup, and black Misfits garb. Glenn himself was as ridiculously musclebound as ever; he likes to flex by raising his arms and bringing his hands together over his head.

This show was on his one-time-only, four-stop "Danzig Legacy" tour, which meant he did sets featuring his solo material, Samhain and Misfits, each with the appropriate logos on the stage behind him. For Samhain he even came out in his black gimp mask.

Ahead of Danzig's show at Gibson Ampitheater tonight -- and in the midst of our Danzig-palooza festivities -- we told you last week about his most insane stalker. This certifiably-nuts fan was caught on Danzig's property with apparent plans to kill his idol. Found on him? A backpack full of porno magazines, featuring everyone's heads cut out and Danzig's taped in their place.

While undoubtedly terrifying -- the guy was arrested, thankfully -- there's something also ridiculous and, dare we say, awe-inspiring about all of this. Danzig's fans have such high regard for him that they'd clearly like him to star in many more of their entertainments. All of this got us wondering what might it might be like if Danzig's head popped up in other moments from entertainment history.

Editor's Note: We finally spoke with Danzig, and he says that parts of this account are incorrect. Here is his account.

Glenn Danzig brings his Danzig Legacy show to Gibson Amphitheatre on Halloween. On this short tour, for the first time he's performing his solo material and songs from Samhain and Misfits all in one night.

This got us really, really excited.

But it turns out we don't hold a candle to Danzig's most insane devotees.

"Danzig loves his fans," says Russ MacKay, who is Danzig's bodyguard and also has a weekly show called "Poor Kids Radio" on breal.tv. "But in the past, [they've] gotten too obsessive."

On Halloween night in 2005, a stalker made it onto the grounds of Danzig's house in Hollywood Hills. It was right before a scheduled show at the Gibson, then called the Universal.

This week on West Coast Sound: Danzig-palooza!

In honor of Glenn Danzig's Halloween show at Gibson Amphitheater -- in which he will play songs from his entire catalog -- we checked in with him to see how his short tour is going so far.

"It was just brutal," he says of the first date, October 7 in Chicago. "We played for over two hours. The energy was like a bomb exploding." But he adds that this quick run is the one and only time he's going to be performing solo work along with Misfits and Samhain songs in the same concert. "After these shows there will be no more, so if you miss it, you miss it."

While we had him on the phone we also talked with him about his amazing art collection. Indeed, his bodyguard Russ MacKay hipped us to the fact that Danzig's massive archive includes hundreds upon hundreds of original paintings, an enormous library of rare vinyl records, and, of course, a room full of Misfits, Samhain and Danzig artifacts.

One of the greatest love stories ever told? Maybe not, but the fictional coupling of Henry Rollins and Glenn Danzig in the comic Henry & Glenn Forever (and we were the first big media outlet to tell you about it!) has inspired more than mere fan fascination at this point. The small yet epic paperback has been such a hit, an entire art show at La Luz De Jesus Gallery has been devoted to its amorous concept, and as you can see in the photos we took on opening night this past Friday, there's not a filler piece in the bunch:

Though tribute bands Black Fag and Glenn were forced to cancel their outdoor performance due to the rain, the place was still packed. Igloo Tornado, the art collective who created the timeless tome of tough yet tender affection curated the show (they called it a "Gang Bang"). Igloo's Tom Neely answered our burning love questions the next day. Read on for his illuminating insight about the creation, reaction and inspiration behind the comic phenom and the punk rock manly man masterpieces that followed.
