Brian Eno's Drums Between the Bells

Are people who need people really the luckiest people in the world? Brian Eno's latest winning lottery ticket, "Drums Between the Bells," out July 4 on Warp, continues his lifelong theme of communion on fifteen tracks with Rick Holland, an artist Eno met as part of the British interscholastic Map-Making Project in the late '90s.

Listen to Zach Galifianakis & Fiona Apple's Lesser-Known NSFW Song "Come Over and Get It (Up in 'Dem Guts)"

Apple and Galifianakis, BFFs 4eva.

In 2006, Zach Galifianakis and pal Fiona Apple teamed up to record a catchy, NSFW rap song titled "Come Over and Get It (Up in 'Dem Guts)". The track wasn't released until 2008 on a 7" vinyl to commemorate Chunklet magazine's 20th issue. We've never heard the song before, so we're guessing you haven't either. (But we're sure if you have heard it, you'll prove us wrong in the comment section below).

The song features Apple as 'Clarice', a woman seeking "some of that sweet love" from 'Alan Finger', a character Galifianakis played in the short-lived, documentary style sitcom Dog Bites Man that aired on Comedy Central.

We've been singing the catchy chorus all morning long. Now it's your turn:

Exclusive Mix- J. Rocc Gives Us "Some Cold Rock Stuf"

jrocc.jpg
J.Rocc at the Do-Over
One of Cali's finest, the world famous J. Rocc, drops his double album, Some Cold Rock Stuf, tomorrow on similarly solid label Stones Throw. Because he's as nice in real life as on the turntables, he gave us an exclusive mix in anticipation of the release.

One of the original turntabalists, J. Rocc has had a hand in some of hip-hop's most legit collaborations, forming the Beat Junkies with Melo-D and DJ Rhettmatic and acting as DJ for Madlib's shows and member of Jaylib (Madlib & J Dilla).

His album, which Stones Throw calls, "Not a mix tape. Not a DJ album. Not a beats album. It's the album," includes a "mystery disc," also produced by J. Rocc. Three different mystery discs--no tracklists will be published--are in rotation, so it's like everybody gets a golden ticket.

Exclusive: Heidecker & Wood of "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" Premiere New Track

heidecker-and-wood-2011.jpg
Heidecker & Wood: Just a coupla good ol' boys and their dogs
Cats french kissing, two grown men spazzing out in red jumpsuits, and an old-school fax machine flying in outer space- and that was just the intro to Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!. The Adult Swim comedy show, mentally warped brainchild of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, was so weird you had to be a little wacked yourself to find it funny.

Some of the best sketches were the songs ("Doo Dah Doo Doo!"), and in typical Tim and Eric fashion, they turned one of our favorite bits into a full-blown Michael McDonald-esque track.

That seems to be the inspiration behind Heidecker & Wood. Tim, along with Tim and Eric composer Davin Wood, are releasing a real-live album (Starting from Nowhere) on a real-live label (Little Record Company). The singles released so far are riffs on '70s makin' love, nah-nah-nahing, multi-harmonied power pop- "A Christmas Suite" hilariously crescendos into, "Children are the key to the universe!"

Heidecker & Wood play their record release show (and their first show ever!) on Wed. April 27th at Largo at the Coronet.

We alone have the next single, "Desert Island," right here. It's shiny, shiny, shiny like a choo-choo!:

Wavves Drops New Song About How Much He Loves TV

Categories: MP3

wavvestv.jpg
"I'm wasting away, in every way / I'm wasting my time, all of my time / I'm wasted again, with none of my friends / ... but that's alright with me / ... I got TV." We love Wavves. No one does slacker better, and it seems appropriate that as news spreads about Beavis & Butthead's return to the air (please tell us they'll do the music video thing), Nathan Williams releases a song called "TV Luv Song." Spin debuted the song moments ago and described it as "a punk fuzzbomb under an ocean of reverb."

We're inclined to agree. Download it yrself:

Today in WTF: Antoine Dodson's "Bed Intruder Song" Remixed as a Bizarre Gangsta Warning to Snitches (NSFW: Watch + Free Download)

isaiah-toothtaker-480-stroke.jpg
Isaiah Toothtaker co-opts a meme to warn his enemies of imminent death.
In his new song "Intruder," Tucson rapper, brawler and tattoo shop owner Isaiah Toothtaker puts an impressively aggro spin on Antoine Dodson's "Bed Intruder" web hit. Wavves drummer Jacob Safari provides the beat--made from the marching band version of the original--while Isaiah delivers a menacing message to any who would cross him. It's an anti-snitch opus hailing from his pending January 25 LP, Illuminati Thug Mafia. Isaiah is the co-founder of the rising, L.A.-connected rap crew Machina Muerte and, trust us, he's earned his name. Toothtaker was kind enough to offer West Coast Sound debuts on both the MP3 and the horrifyingly NSFW video debut for "Intruder." Could you say no to the face above?

Justin Bieber Accidentally Violates Own Copyright, and Other Insane Tales of the Ongoing Intellectual Property Crackdown

Accidental copyfighter: Justin Bieber
What do a Texas cheerleader, a parking lot attendant, OnSmash.com, and the founders of Pirate Bay have in common? If you guessed "alleged or actual criminals" you are correct!

The Department of Homeland Security and ICE are continuing to Protect Our Freedoms, Keep America Safe and Secure Our Borders by shutting down over eighty sites devoted to movie piracy , illegal file-sharing, and the sale of knockoff handbags . They also may have accidentally shut down the popular site OnSmash.com even though artists gave them tracks in question for promotional purposes, and Kanye West has approvingly linked to the site.

On Tuesday, Justin Bieber uploaded his own video to his own personal YouTube site only to find that it was automatically blocked on copyright grounds.

Juliette Commagere gives the Dougie a yogic noogie.
In a brand new video for the buoyant tropical-tinged single "Impact," L.A. pop chanteuse Juliette Commagere dons some fancy frills and dances around in a room full of rainbows.

There's something hypnotizing about the whole experience -- that beguiling voice matched with those made-up eyes, the luminescent tones accompanied by the bright colors, the bubbly bass inspiring the hypnotic choreography. Wait ... did she just do the Dougie?

Jacob Safari Remixes Dead Western Plains, Channels Animal Collective and Jesus Christ [Exclusive MP3]

FLR004_480.jpg
Fort Lowell presents Dead Western Plains reworked by Jacob Safari
We like Fort Lowell Records. They aren't based in L.A., but we don't hold that against 'em. The year-old Tuscon seven-inch label has a commitment to both purty packaging and top tuneage, and they've tapped local scene star Jacob Safari for a new remix.

The (deep breath) former Wavves and Mae Shi member, recent Wallpaper collaborator, and current player in Signals and Bark Bark Bark has put his considerable talents to work on a song called "Alta" by AZ troublemakers Dead Western Plains.

Safari takes the psychedelic swoon and upbeat power-pop of the original and chops it, swags it out with some electronic bloops, and gives the whole thing a Animal Collective gone electro vibe. If Animal Collective wrote songs about a neglectful Jesus, that is.

David Lynch's New Single: It's A "Good Day Today" [MP3]

Categories: MP3

gdt_cover.jpg

David Lynch: visionary filmmaker and....pop star? Lynch just released two new singles on Sunday Best Recordings, the electro-pop "Good Day Today" and blues-y "I Know." While Lynch has worked on his own soundtracks and other music projects in the last few years, these tracks are quite a departure. What can we attribute the new sound to?

"Well, I love electricity so it sort of stands to reason that I would like electronics," he told The Guardian.

Totally logical, Mr. Lynch. He's been involved in music projects for years, working with composer Angelo Badalamenti on his soundtracks, collaborating on Sparklehorse/Danger Mouse's Dark Night of the Soul project, and recently signing Ariana Delawari to his own label and directing a promo video for her album Lion of Panjshir.

"I was just sitting and these notes came and then I went down and started working with Dean [Hurley, his engineer] and then these few notes, 'I want to have a good day, today' came and the song was built around that," he said.

He's gearing up to release a full-length album at some point next year. For now, check out "Good Day Today" below:
