37-Year-Old Man Arrested after DUI Crash near Sierra-At-Tahoe Road

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (May 2, 2024) –  Zachary Leconte was arrested Saturday afternoon, after a DUI accident on U.S. Highway 50.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m., just west of Sierra-At-Tahoe Road on April 20th.

Reports indicate that Zachary M. Leconte, 37, lost control of his 2021 Dodge Van while navigating a curved road recklessly. This led to a collision with an eastbound 2015 Toyota Rav-4. The impact caused the Toyota to roll over, injuring its occupants.

The Dodge then collided head-on with a 2013 Honda CR-V in the eastbound lane, blocking traffic. The occupants of the Honda, two 19-year-old residents of San Jose, sustained severe injuries and were taken to Barton Memorial Hospital along with Leconte, who suffered minor injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Leconte was under the influence at the time of the crash, leading to his arrest for DUI. As the investigation continues, no further details are available.

Anyone with additional information about the accident is urged to contact local authorities promptly.
