35-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near Oxnard Boulevard

OXNARD, CA (April 25, 2024) Joey Paquet died Sunday night in a bicycle accident on 101 Freeway near Oxnard Boulevard. The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway. Following the preliminary inquiry, it was determined that a bicyclist traveling southbound was struck by the driver of a 2012 Ford Edge, who made a right turn from the 101 northbound off-ramp. Paramedics arriving at the scene pronounced the bicyclist, identified as 35-year-old Joey Paquet from Oxnard by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, deceased. Authorities have ruled out speed, alcohol, or drugs as contributing factors in the incident. The family of Paquet started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for memorial expenses.
