87-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Parking Lot Collision on Sarival Avenue

SURPRISE, AZ (April 16, 2024)Carole Escajeda died early Tuesday afternoon in a parking lot crash on Waddell Road in the Costco parking lot. Dispatchers arrived to the scene near Sarival Avenue around 1:00 p.m., on April 9th.

An investigation is underway regarding an incident where a vehicle collided with Escajeda in a parking lot. This resulted in the pedestrian sustaining life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to save her, Escajeda, aged 87, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver involved cooperated with authorities and remained at the scene.

Emergency services temporarily closed the area for cleanup and initial procedures. Police confirmed that impairment was not suspected in the driver.
