Unidentified Man Fatally Injured in Pedestrian Crash near Gypsum Canyon Road

YORBA LINDA, CA (April 18, 2024) – One man died early Monday morning in a pedestrian crash on westbound 91 Freeway. The incident occurred around 12:20 a.m., just east of Gypsum Canyon Road on April 1st. Authorities stated that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while standing on the lanes of the Riverside (91) Freeway in the Yorba Linda area. It is suspected that the pedestrian may have been trying to repair a broken-down vehicle when another vehicle collided with him. Witnesses reported seeing a red sedan parked on the right shoulder, with a male attempting to signal vehicles to stop in the No. 2 and No. 3 lanes. At 12:37 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers closed all westbound lanes except for the HOV lanes for clearing operations. The circumstances leading up to the incident remain unknown at this time. An active investigation into the fatal pedestrian crash on Gypsum Canyon Road is currently underway.
